Head of Environmental Health and Safety – Italy

We are looking for a Senior Health and Safety Manager / Health and Safety Country Lead for our multi national Construction client for Italy.

Our client is a specialist design and construction company, delivering complex facilities in sectors like pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, logistics, and data centers. They are committed to maintaining the highest health, safety, and environmental (EHS) standards across all projects.

Role Overview:

The Head of EHS will lead health, safety, and environmental compliance across all construction projects in Italy. This role requires strong experience in construction safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement EHS policies to ensure compliance with Italian and EU safety laws.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and site inspections.
• Train and support site teams and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions.
• Oversee environmental and sustainability initiatives on projects.
• Work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure safety standards are met.
• Tasked with building up the EHS team as works progress. 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in construction EHS management.
• Strong knowledge of Italian construction safety regulations.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar EHS certification preferred.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Fluency in Italian and English.
• Travel will be a large part of this role but based out of Milan initially.
